Designing Ecotopia
THE 12 PATHS TO A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE.
“How would you change the world?”
Designing Ecoptopia | The Movie
This film explores the potential and emergent paths that could lead to a sustainable and equitable future: Ecotopia. Where some see the answer in regulation, others see a revolution in grassroots activism. Where some seek clean-tech salvation, others see the prudent application of existing knowledge. Who's right?
Designing Ecotopia contrasts and compares the views of the 12 types of environmentalisms.
It asks the question, "How would you change the world?" to the 12 leading thinkers of our age and to those who are exploring ideas bubbling on the fringe.
This is your opportunity to contribute to the film. We interviewed the 12 archetypes at the Cineforum. Which one do you relate to?
The film exposes the paradigm shifting movements gaining momentum and offers an insight into the changes in our lives over the coming decades.
Firstly, we’ll interview experts, asking the question:
“How would you change the world?”
Interviews will be edited together to find synergies and a common
vision of Ecotopia.
We’ll use graphics, stills and found footage in our 1.0 Cut (for COP15). We’ll see our 12 experts in situ, presenting their ideas, methods and joining up their thinking at the Cineforum.
Narrative Structure
All of our 12 types of environmentalists were asked the same 5 questions - and asked to answer from within their subject specialty.
Who is it aimed at?
The goal of the film: Inspiring the tastemakers...
The intention of ‘Designing Ecotopia’ is to create a compelling vision of a sustainable and achievable near-future that inspires those people whose business it is to design our culture and society:
1. Designers, innovators and tastemakers (”Cultural Creatives”).
2. Planners within business and government (”Social Strategists”).
The film will be distributed on the independent film circuit using a similar model to the films, “Helvetica” and “Objectified”, where the film is toured strategically, shown with local guest speakers and embedded into local and regional change-making events.
How will we do it?
