This illuminating workshop by Imam Dr Hargey and Farzana Khan provides a non-patriarchal introduction to Islamic theology. Without a gender-balanced understanding of Islam’s transcendent text, women will remain largely subservient. What, if any, are the divine directives about women’s clothing, gender-mingling, women’s rights and autonomy? This interactive session provides an incontestable Qur’anic framework to conventional masculine interpretations of the faith. It is designed to advance theological self-empowerment and sexual parity so that Muslims of both genders can realise their full potential.
