Jobeda Ali from Fair Knowledge wins Social Business Leader of the Year Award
Set up in 2007, the Oguntê Women’s Social Leadership Awards recognise women in the UK and abroad, influential leaders, connectors, campaigners and social entrepreneurs, who contribute to sustainable development, offer innovative and sustainable solutions to pressing social issues, and can evidence their social impact.

The awards aim to encourage and acknowledge extraordinary vision, responsible business and campaigning practices, as well as social responsibility.
Organised by Oguntê Ltd, a women focused Social Innovations and Leadership Development company, the winners were announced at a networking event with fabulous speakers at the RSA House, on June 8th 2010.
Jobeda Ali is pictured here receiving the Award in the category Social Business Leader of the Year from Dr Rachel Armstrong, the celebrated innovator in metabolic materials and a dedicated champion of social transformation.
Servane Mouazan, CEO of Oguntê Ltd and founder of the Awards said, “At Oguntê we are passionate about connecting women of courage, who bring about genuine innovative ideas and actions to solve social problems. We encourage them to come forward and demonstrate how they create a positive social impact, and how they make the world a fairer place. These women, recognised in our yearly Social Leadership Awards, prove that with generosity, focus, confidence and robust networks, you can achieve great and measurable social change.”
Fair Knowledge promotes fringe voices in mainstream thought leadership through documentary film training, leadership training and their flagship Cineforum events, which combines film festivals with collaborative conferencing.
Jobeda Ali said, “This is great endorsement for all social businesses that are dedicated to long term, lasting social impacts. We want to change the world and that won’t happen next year. It was therefore poignant for me to receive my award from Dr Armstrong, as her work with living systems resonates with one of the key tenets of Fair Knowledge, that social transformations, like natural ones, happen over long periods. Unlike conventional businesses, our ‘results’ are not quarterly or even annual and I’m delighted that the judges recognised this - I hope this will encourage and motivate other social business leaders who are changing the world.”
